Joshua ABELOW
OH! ABELOW.
Abelow's work is a disciplined exploration into the life, meaning and symbols of a painter. His
paintings exercise autobiography, color, rigid geometric abstraction, text and expressive
figuration. The works on paper are self-portraits that mock a perverse persona of himself as a
painter.
Not to be overlooked is Abelow's activity as a writer and blogger. His poetry conveys an up to
date story of his life and work. ART BLOG ART BLOG, updated on an almost daily basis, offers a
meticulously curated selection of artwork and images, links and text - this activity is reflective of a
significant paradigm shift for visual culture today.
Through the use of syntax, poetics, autobiography and cataloging Abelow is creating works that
are a part of a deep and seemingly infinite exploration.
