1961 He is awarded the Laurent Meeus prize.
1963 He is awarded the Camiel Huysmans prize.
1964 He is a laureate on the occasion of the Academy’s tricentenary celebrations.
1964/68 He regularly visits Paris with Maurice Wijckaert, who brings him into contact with Asger Jorn.
